Over the past 30 years, the development of information systems (IS) has been at the center of the study and practice of information systems. This article examines the history of information systems development (IAS) methodologies, examines some trends and issues related to IAS, and shows how they are reflected in the methodologies and how organizations use (or do not use) them.
